This Thursday at Brindisi Airport in Italy, 184 passengers narrowly avoided tragedy, saved by mere seconds. According to Italian media, including Oculus News, a flight bound for Turin caught fire just moments before takeoff.
The moment the plane catches fire |
The fire ignited on one of the aircraft's wings, leading to swift action by the crew, who immediately noticed smoke and opened the emergency exits. Thanks to their quick response, all passengers were able to evacuate the plane rapidly. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Ryanair issued a statement addressing the incident: “Flight FR8826 from Brindisi to Turin was delayed this morning after cabin crew observed smoke on the exterior of the aircraft. Passengers were disembarked without incident and returned to the terminal by bus.” This statement, also published by A2 CNN, helped to reassure the public following the frightening event.
The Brindisi incident comes just two days after another Ryanair aircraft experienced technical issues at Bergamo’s Orio al Serio airport. In that case, a tire burst upon landing, causing significant delays as the runway was blocked for an extended period.
These back-to-back incidents have raised concerns about safety standards, though it is essential to highlight the efficiency of the crews involved, who ensured the passengers’ safety in both cases.
