Leaders of the Albanian Opposition confronting the police on the outskirts of Tirana |
As the opposition protest, marked by the strategic blocking of major roads across Albania, approaches its end, tensions have risen significantly at the Kamza Overpass. Supporters of the Democratic Party (PD) clashed with police forces, resulting in a tense standoff and physical confrontations.
At the heart of the incident was Democratic Party MP Flamur Noka, who, alongside PD protesters, confronted police officers stationed at the Kamza Overpass—a key location blocked by protesters as part of the opposition's demonstration strategy. The protestors demanded that police withdraw from the blocked road, accusing them of provoking and escalating the situation.
The opposition's demonstration, which began at 5:00 PM, has disrupted six main highways, affecting travel and transport throughout the country. These blocked arteries include:
- Tirana-Durrës, near the Kamza Overpass
- Durrës-Tirana, near the Shkozet Overpass
- Kashar-Milot, near the Milot Intersection
- Elbasan-Tirana, at the Bradashesh Roundabout
- Durrës-Fier, at the Rrogozhina Roundabout
- Levan-Tepelenë, at the Levan Roundabout
The opposition’s protest was designed to draw attention to their concerns over recent political and social issues, seeking a response from government authorities.
