Police Announcement

The police announced that these arrests were the result of a successful exchange of information between the specialized structures of the Albanian State Police and their counterparts in Greece and Italy regarding the location of three individuals wanted internationally for various charges, including those by judicial authorities in Gjirokastër, Korçë, and Mat. This cooperation culminated in three police operations aimed at capturing and detaining the suspects.

  • Operation “Triplet”: Greek police arrested A. M., a 45-year-old from Memaliaj, who was convicted in 2017 by the Gjirokastër Court of Appeals to 4 years and 8 months in prison for the crime of drug trafficking. In 2015, he was involved in transporting 100 kg of Cannabis Sativa in collaboration with two other individuals. He has approximately 2 and a half years left to serve of his sentence.

  • Operation “Dënimi”: Greek police arrested E. D., a 31-year-old, who was sentenced in 2023 by the Korçë Court to 4 years and 7 months in prison for aiding illegal border crossings. He has about 3 years and 8 months left to serve of his sentence.

  • Operation “Masa”: Italian police arrested N. K., also known as N. T., A. K., and A. K., a 49-year-old from Mat. In 2022, the Mat Court issued a prison arrest warrant against him for possession and production of illegal weapons and explosives, as well as public disorder. He is accused of firing a weapon into the air on December 31, 2021. During a search of his residence, police found firearms, explosives, and military ammunition.

Interpol Tirana is working closely with their counterparts in Greece and Italy to finalize the extradition procedures for these individuals back to Albania.
