The Ministry expressed concern that this practice constitutes a violation of human rights and deprives Albanians in the region of access to basic services.
“The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs closely monitors the phenomenon of the deactivation of addresses of Albanians in the Presevo Valley, particularly in Medvedja. This action represents a violation of human rights and minority protection standards, depriving Albanians of access to basic services and the exercise of their fundamental rights," the statement reads.
The Ministry emphasized that the issue goes beyond legal matters, highlighting its impact on the daily lives of Albanians in the area. “The deactivation of addresses is not merely a legal issue but has consequences for the everyday life of Albanians in this region, undermining their rights and equality,” it added.
The Albanian government reaffirmed its commitment to addressing this issue in dialogue with Serbian authorities and within international forums. "Through its continued engagement, Albania will persist in advocating for the protection of the rights of Albanians in the Presevo Valley, in accordance with international standards for human and minority rights,” the statement concludes.
This response underscores Albania's dedication to safeguarding the rights and well-being of its ethnic community in the region amid growing concerns over discriminatory practices.
