Euronews Albania obtained footage of Feim Onjea, one of the suspects, attempting to escape upon learning of his impending arrest. Onjea reportedly fled from the police station, scaling the perimeter wall to evade capture. While five suspects were detained, Onjea remains at large.

Who is Feim Onjea?

Feim Onjea served as an Operational Service Officer in the special force unit Shqiponja. He is under investigation for "Abuse of Duty" and "Abuse of Police Authority," allegedly carried out in collaboration with others. His current status as a fugitive has intensified efforts by authorities to apprehend him.

Ongoing Investigations

Authorities are actively pursuing Onjea while continuing to investigate the extent of the group's involvement in trafficking and smuggling activities. This case underscores the challenges in combating corruption and misconduct within law enforcement ranks in Albania.

The arrests mark a significant step in addressing internal corruption, though the escape of a key suspect raises questions about oversight and security within the police force.
