Italian Anti-Mafia Dismantles Albanian Drug Trafficking Ring Across Several Provinces

The Italian anti-mafia forces have successfully dismantled a major Albanian drug trafficking network operating across several provinces, including Pavia, Milan, Modena, and Monza. The operation, which spanned six months, involved the trafficking of large quantities of drugs, primarily cocaine, with a market value estimated at around 5 million euros.

The operation resulted in the execution of multiple warrants, including 8 arrest orders, 5 detention orders, 2 house arrests, and 1 obligation to appear in court. The criminal network had extensive international ties, including connections in Albania, Belgium, Latin America, and other low-profile regions, local media say.

The investigation uncovered encrypted conversations on mobile devices that revealed the extent of the drug trafficking operation and the individuals involved in this illegal activity.

The illicit profits generated from the drug trade were reportedly reinvested in the countries of origin of the individuals involved, further complicating the international scope of the trafficking operation.

This successful crackdown highlights the ongoing efforts of Italian authorities to combat organized crime and drug trafficking in the country, as well as the increasing importance of technological surveillance in uncovering complex criminal networks.
