A shocking incident took place on Wednesday evening near the Faculty of History and Philology in Tirana, where businessman Eduart Reçi was shot. Reçi, originally from Dibra, succumbed to his injuries early Thursday morning in the hospital.
Announcement to inform about the passing of the businessman. |
According to reports from local media, Reçi, age 52, was likely targeted from a distance, as security cameras in the area captured no one approaching him. His family claims he had no known conflicts with anyone, adding to the mystery of the case. The businessman was shot in the head while leaving a café along Elbasani Street in Tirana. Though he was immediately taken to the Trauma Hospital for treatment, he did not survive.
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear, and no suspects have been identified. Journalist Anila Hoxha reported that Reçi was on the phone at the time he was shot, with security footage showing him falling to the ground. Authorities suspect that the shooter may have used a rifle from a considerable distance to avoid detection.
Reçi’s death has brought renewed attention to the complexities within Albania’s construction industry, particularly in Tirana, where the real estate market has faced challenges. Thousands of apartments remain unsold, while property prices in the capital are among the highest in Europe. Speculation has arisen that Reçi’s killing may be linked to these business pressures in the construction sector, though the motive remains unknown.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to gather more information and trace any leads that may help uncover the circumstances of Reçi’s death.
