For the first time in nearly two years since taking charge, Albania’s head coach Sylvinho has selected an extended squad of 28 players for the national team. He explained the reasons for this decision in a press conference held shortly after the roster announcement.
With two home matches remaining in the Nations League, the goal is to top the group. The national team will be bolstered by a fully packed stadium of fans, adding extra motivation.
“At the end of the season, we have the chance to be first in Group B1 of the Nations League. We’ve gained six points so far, facing strong opponents. All four teams have played in the European Championship and have quality players competing in top leagues. Everything is open, but we have the advantage of playing both remaining matches at home. We face two tough games, but we’re ready to give our all, with heart and spirit, especially with our fans behind us.”
Considering Manaj’s fitness and Daku’s suspension for the Czech Republic match, Sylvinho has no shortage of options in attack. The form of Muci and Uzuni provides reassurance for the red-and-black squad.
“The fact that players like Muci are excelling is a positive selection headache for us. People don’t know that I’ve followed Muci closely, and it’s not easy adapting to a new club. We’ll assess if Manaj can play, while Daku is suspended for the first game. We have several center-forward options, and we’ll look to make the most of Muci and Uzuni’s unique qualities in attack.”
