The Albanian Institute of Geosciences has issued a weather alert, announcing that snowfall will affect several regions of the country starting Wednesday afternoon and continuing into Thursday. The snowfall is expected to be most prominent in the North, East, and Southeast of Albania, particularly at altitudes above 500 meters above sea level.
The forecast predicts that today and tomorrow will see light to moderate rainfall in some areas, with snow expected to accumulate in the aforementioned regions. The minimum and maximum air temperatures are expected to range as follows: along the coast, temperatures will range between 9°C and 13°C; in lowland areas, temperatures will be between 6°C and 11°C; and in mountainous areas, the temperatures are expected to be between 0°C and 3°C.
In addition to the snowfall, there will also be changes in wind patterns. A moderate to strong wind is expected in the northern part of the country, while the rest of the territory will experience lighter to moderate winds. This could further contribute to lower perceived temperatures, making it feel colder than the recorded temperatures.
Citizens, especially those living in the affected areas, are advised to take necessary precautions against the cold weather and potential disruptions. Drivers are urged to be cautious, particularly in regions with higher altitudes, where snow and ice could create hazardous driving conditions.
