Prime Minister’s Remarks:
Expressing his enthusiasm, Prime Minister Rama highlighted the significance of Albania hosting such a high-profile event:
“I am thrilled that we succeeded against countries far larger and wealthier than ours. I am probably the most fitting Albanian to present this event because the only vehicle I can ride is a bicycle—it’s no joke! I cannot drive a car, fly a helicopter, or pilot a plane, but I can ride a bike.
I’m truly delighted that, for three days, we will host so many champions who will not only visit our country but will also help showcase Albania to the world."
Rama emphasized the competitive journey to secure the hosting rights, reflecting on Albania’s evolution in the global arena:
"In this league, the competition is extraordinary. We competed against nations with centuries of openness and experience, while we’ve had just over 30 years since our own opening. I’ve always said Albania is like a small Italy, and now we truly are—an Italy on the other side of the sea, ready to welcome not just a sporting event but a global moment of recognition."
The Giro d’Italia Grande Partenza 2025 is expected to draw international attention, bringing elite cyclists and worldwide media coverage to Albania, while showcasing its landscapes, culture, and hospitality to a global audience.
