Two Albanians, Irakli Davella and Edi Lolo, have been identified as victims of a violent attack on Sunday afternoon in Athens, Greece. The incident, described by Greek media as a mafia-style execution, occurred near the intersection of Aristotelous and Komotini streets in the Thrakomakedones area, leaving one dead and another critically injured.

A Targeted Execution
Davella, originally from Saranda, Albania, was killed on the spot. He was a Greek citizen of Albanian origin and a business owner in the Peristeri neighborhood of Athens. In addition to running a café, he reportedly rented vehicles during the summer season, including on Greek islands. Authorities believe his connections to individuals linked with the Greek mafia may have played a role in the attack.
Lolo, the second victim, sustained life-threatening injuries from gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen. He had arrived in Greece from Dubai just days before the attack. Investigators are examining his background for any ties to the events leading up to the shooting.
A Calculated Crime
The attackers used a stolen white vehicle, taken earlier that day from the Patisia area of Athens, to carry out the ambush. After firing at the victims, the perpetrators fled the scene in the same car, which is now a primary focus of the ongoing police investigation.
Witnesses report that Davella was shot in the head at close range, a detail that underscores the premeditated nature of the attack. Greek authorities suspect the crime was a result of disputes among organized crime groups, commonly referred to as “settling of scores” within criminal circles.
Community and Authorities React
This high-profile attack has shocked the local community and highlighted concerns over the growing influence of criminal networks in Athens. As the investigation progresses, families of the victims and the wider Albanian community await justice for this brutal act.
Greek police have intensified their efforts to track down the assailants and uncover the motives behind this targeted attack.
