Link to Albania's High Accident Rate
This case is one of the contributing factors to the high levels of traffic accidents in Albania, which are among the highest in the region and Europe. The illegal release of suspended licenses, often involving bribery, undermines the integrity of the system responsible for road safety. Corruption within institutions tasked with overseeing traffic regulations can lead to individuals being allowed to drive despite having suspended licenses or a history of unsafe driving, further exacerbating the country's road safety crisis. As a result, the death toll from traffic accidents remains alarmingly high, with Albania facing significant challenges in addressing these issues.
