The funds were confiscated as material evidence, and the Prosecutor’s Office has initiated legal proceedings against the two individuals, aged 22 and 32, both residents of Kosovo.
Legal Proceedings
Border Crime Investigation specialists referred the case to the Prosecutor’s Office, which has opened an investigation for the criminal offense of "Failure to Declare Money and Valuable Items at the Border."
According to the authorities, the cash was uncovered during a routine inspection as the vehicle attempted to enter the Republic of Albania. The funds were not declared, as required by law.
Next Steps
The case is now with the Prosecutor’s Office of the First Instance Court for General Jurisdiction in Kukës, where further legal actions will be determined.
The discovery underscores the importance of adhering to financial declaration laws at border crossings, which aim to prevent illicit activities and ensure compliance with national regulations.
