Prime Minister Edi Rama celebrated the milestone on social media, emphasizing that these record numbers demonstrate Albania’s evolution from being merely a temporary curiosity to a stable and growing tourist destination.

“11.7 million foreign visitors, or 15% more than in 2023, make 2024 another record year. It proves that Albania is not just a momentary curiosity but has paved its way towards sustainable growth, creating a serious and diversified tourist offering while providing unique experiences for all tastes and preferences,” Rama wrote.

The consolidation of key Western European markets, including Italy, Germany, France, Spain, and the UK, alongside growth in visitors from neighboring countries and distant markets in Asia and the Americas, has significantly contributed to Albania’s success. The economic impact is equally remarkable, with tourism generating an impressive €3.8 billion in just the first nine months of 2024. This growth has been accompanied by rising standards in accommodation facilities and an enhanced reputation for quality experiences.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the broader implications of this success, noting that it reflects Albania’s strategic vision and the tangible outcomes of effective promotion and year-on-year improvements. “Prestigious promotion and consistently positive experiences have laid the groundwork for Albania’s sustainable rise in global tourism,” Rama added.

As Albania continues to expand its reach and appeal, the country is firmly establishing itself as a premier travel destination. With its blend of natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality, the future of Albanian tourism looks brighter than ever.
