“This method is revolutionary because it avoids the traditional approach involving a large incision,” explained Dr. Artur Xhumari, the lead surgeon on the case. “The eyebrow technique enables faster recovery, minimal pain, and most importantly, the complete removal of the tumor.”

Dr. Xhumari highlighted that this approach not only eliminated the tumor but also prevented post-surgical scarring and loss of the patient’s sense of smell, which can occur with more invasive procedures.

“The choice of technique depends on the condition being treated,” he said. “We have two or three options, and in this case, we opted to avoid a major incision by selecting this method.”

The tumor removed in this case was a meningioma, one of the most common types of brain tumors in Albania, predominantly affecting women. Dr. Xhumari emphasized the importance of seeking medical attention for persistent headaches, as early detection significantly eases treatment.

This innovative procedure marks a significant step forward in Albania’s healthcare capabilities, showcasing the potential for advanced medical practices in the region.
