The health condition of Archbishop Anastas of Albania has deteriorated, according to recent reports from Greek media. The 95-year-old Archbishop is under close monitoring by a medical team at the hospital.
Archbishop Anastas was admitted to a hospital in Tirana on December 30 due to a viral infection that had been troubling him. As his condition worsened, it became necessary to transfer him to Athens on January 3 for further treatment.
“The current health condition of His Beatitude, the Archbishop of Albania, Mr. Anastas, is assessed by the attending physicians as critical,” stated the Orthodox Church in an official announcement.
The Archbishop’s critical state has sparked widespread concern among the faithful and the broader religious community, as prayers and messages of support pour in for his recovery. Archbishop Anastas is widely respected for his leadership and contributions to the Orthodox Church in Albania, where he has served with distinction for decades.
