The health condition of the 95-year-old Orthodox Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania, Anastasios Yannoulatos, has deteriorated significantly. The Archbishop had been hospitalized in Tirana since December 30 due to complications arising from what was initially described as a seasonal virus.

A Distinguished Life of Service
Archbishop Anastasios, born on November 4, 1929, in Piraeus, Greece, has served as the Primate of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania since his election in June 1992. Known for his theological acumen and dedication to fostering interfaith dialogue, he is a Professor Emeritus at the National University of Athens and an Honorary Member of the Academy of Athens.
His contributions extend far beyond Albania. He is one of the presidents of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches and the honorary president of the World Conference of Religions for Peace.
