The Albania-Kosovo shared border crossing point is experiencing a significant influx of travelers and vehicles in the early days of 2025. Many citizens from both Kosovo and Albania are choosing to spend their post-holiday breaks exploring popular tourist destinations, contributing to the heightened activity.

Additionally, the movement of vehicles has surged due to the departure of Kosovar emigrants returning to their countries of residence after the holiday season. Despite the increased traffic, authorities have successfully avoided long queues and delays by implementing expedited procedures for vehicles with foreign plates.

Currently, border authorities are operating eight counters on both sides of the border to manage the flow efficiently. These efforts are complemented by a streamlined protocol that waives standard checks for vehicles with Albanian and Kosovar license plates. This initiative has significantly reduced wait times and ensured a smoother transition for travelers.

During the holiday season, the border crossings in the Kukës region recorded a notable rise in the number of travelers entering and exiting the country. According to the Local Directorate for Border and Migration in Kukës, over 90,000 individuals entered Albania through the region's border points from December 19, 2024, to the present date.

As the travel activity continues, the collaborative efforts of border authorities from both countries highlight the importance of efficient management and seamless mobility for citizens in the region. This approach not only enhances the travel experience but also underscores the strong connections between the people of Albania and Kosovo.
