As of January 29, 2025, citizens of Kosovo and Italy will have their driver's licenses mutually recognized in both countries.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo has announced that the agreement between the two states has officially come into effect.
According to the statement, this agreement allows citizens to convert their driving licenses without the need to undergo additional procedures, whether theoretical or practical.
"The implementation of this agreement is an important step towards the integration of Kosovo citizens living in the Republic of Italy," the Ministry stated.
In December 2024, the Minister of Internal Affairs had confirmed that the final steps were being taken to bring the agreement into force. This development is expected to facilitate mobility and improve the daily lives of Kosovars residing in Italy, as well as Italians in Kosovo.
The recognition of driver's licenses marks a significant achievement in bilateral relations between the two countries, easing administrative burdens and strengthening cooperation.
