Arrests and Ongoing Investigations

Among those detained are Mohammed Sallit, Wissan Broud, Hassan Broud, Sami Shanta, Faez Ismaeil, and Nedio Mejdani. Law enforcement authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend Eduart Skora and Florian Biba, who remain at large. Additionally, Juxhin Koka and Serxha Sula are being sought as part of the ongoing investigation.

"During the search of the vessel, 400,000 liters of oil, suspected to have been smuggled from Tunisia, were discovered concealed in ballast tanks used to balance the ship," the police reported.

Connections to Previous Operations

This operation follows the success of "Black Gold," conducted just a day earlier, which resulted in the seizure of 670,000 liters of contraband oil transported using a similar method. In that case, ten individuals were identified as being involved in the illicit activity.

A Rising Trend in Fuel Smuggling

The two consecutive operations underscore a growing trend in fuel smuggling and highlight the transnational nature of the crime, involving multiple nationalities and sophisticated concealment methods. The Durres Police have intensified their vigilance and remain committed to dismantling these criminal networks.

Authorities Urge Public Cooperation

Authorities have called for public cooperation in reporting suspicious maritime activities to further combat contraband operations. The successful execution of "Black Gold 2" demonstrates the capability and determination of Albanian law enforcement to tackle organized crime and protect economic stability.
