Albania’s Corruption War: Edi Rama’s Days Numbered? SPAK Crackdown Targets High Officials

Albanian politics is bracing for yet another earthquake, and this time, the tremors are heading straight for Prime Minister Edi Rama. In a heated discussion on A2 CNN’s "Debat" with Alba Alishani, Enkelejd Alibeaj, leader of the right-wing Party Djathtas 1912, made bold claims that the next major political figure to be summoned by the Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) is none other than the head of the Albanian government himself.

Albania’s Corruption War: Edi Rama’s Days Numbered? SPAK Crackdown Targets High Officials

Alibeaj’s statement comes amid an ongoing crackdown on corruption, which has already seen 17 mayors, former ministers, and deputies put behind bars. According to him, it is now only a matter of time before Rama faces the same fate.

"SPAK is now witnessing a power struggle, a judicial battle between political forces. The pattern is clear: after taking down several high-ranking officials, the next one in line is him. It’s that simple," declared Alibeaj, sending shockwaves through the political landscape.

What’s even more striking is his suggestion that Rama is already preparing for his swan song. Alibeaj hinted that the Prime Minister is set to deliver his final address at the upcoming Socialist Party parliamentary group meeting before being called in by SPAK.

"It seems like he is rehearsing for his last parliamentary speech. This could be the farewell speech of Edi Rama. Once SPAK summons him, all these emotional outbursts within the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group will amount to nothing," he stated.

With SPAK’s investigations tightening the noose around high-profile politicians, Alibeaj’s warning raises the possibility that Rama may soon find himself in serious legal trouble. Will Albania’s most powerful political figure be the next domino to fall? The coming weeks could prove decisive.
