Albania Leads Europe in Cocaine Use Among Drug Users, New Study Finds

A recent survey by the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) has revealed that Albanian drug users have the highest rate of cocaine consumption in Europe, with 41% of drug users reporting having used cocaine. This percentage is significantly higher than the Western Balkans average (21%) and the European Union average (29%).

The findings are based on data collected from the European Web Survey on Drugs (EWSD), conducted between May and July 2024. Over 66,000 people from 31 countries participated in the survey, including 4,442 individuals from the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia).
