 The Directorate of Professional Standards within the State Police has suspended three senior police officials following their implication in a drug trafficking case. Two of the officials have been arrested under the orders of the Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK), while the third is currently on the run, local media confirm.

The State Police Directorate for Public Security (DPPSH) promptly issued the suspension without pay for the three officers involved. The individuals affected by the decision are:

  • Shkëlzen Ruska, Chief of Crimes in Himarë;
  • Ervis Alisinanaj, Chief of Crimes at the Lushnjë Police Station;
  • Elvis Dervishi, Head of the Border Police Station in Saranda, who has been declared wanted.

In addition to the suspensions, the Directorate of Professional Standards has launched a disciplinary investigation against the three officials for severe misconduct. This measure underscores the authorities' commitment to upholding integrity within the police force and addressing cases of criminal activity among law enforcement personnel.

The case remains under investigation, and further legal proceedings are expected to determine the full extent of the involvement of the suspended officers in drug trafficking operations.
