New data indicate that the travel enthusiasm of German citizens remains unchanged despite economic difficulties. However, price considerations are becoming increasingly important, benefiting destinations such as Tunisia, Bulgaria, and Albania, according to a report by DW.
The passion of Germans for traveling has not diminished, even in challenging economic times. "Despite all economic and geopolitical challenges, Germans are traveling! Holidays seem to be the last thing they are willing to save on," said Norbert Fiebig, President of the German Travel Association (DRV).
The total revenue from the summer season, which lasts from May to October 2024, has increased by 12 percent compared to the previous year, according to DRV data. The number of passengers has grown by six percent. For the entire tourist year, from November 2024 to October 2025, DRV forecasts an 11 percent increase in revenue and a four percent rise in the number of passengers.
Additionally, German citizens are booking their summer vacations earlier than before. "Early booking is preferred," Fiebig emphasizes, highlighting the changing trend in travel planning.
This data underscores the resilience of the German travel market, reflecting a strong desire for vacations despite economic uncertainties. With price-conscious travelers seeking more affordable destinations, countries offering competitive tourism packages are expected to benefit significantly.
