Albanian authorities have commended the honesty of an Irish couple who voluntarily handed over a large sum of money they found in the coastal city of Durrës.
According to an official police statement released on Friday, the couple presented themselves at the Local Police Directorate of Shkodër, where they returned €41,400 in cash.
The Irish citizens, identified as 42-year-old K. S. and his wife K. K., reported that they had discovered the money on March 26, 2025, at approximately 3:30 PM. The cash was found near the "SPAR" supermarket in neighborhood no. 13 of Durrës.
Following their report, the case has been referred to the Local Police Directorate of Durrës, which will proceed with further investigations to determine the rightful owner of the money.
This act of integrity has been widely praised, highlighting the importance of ethical behavior and trust in society. The authorities have yet to announce any information regarding the owner of the money or the next steps in the case.
