According to the police statement, the man, identified as V.B., was traveling as a passenger in an Audi A8 when the vehicle was subjected to a detailed second-line inspection at the Morinë border crossing. The search, part of the police's risk-analysis strategy to prevent illegal activities, led to the discovery of the undeclared money during a physical check of the passenger.

In line with Albania's financial regulations, travelers are required to declare amounts exceeding €10,000 when crossing the border. Failure to do so can result in legal consequences, including the seizure of funds and potential criminal charges.

Following the discovery, authorities initiated legal proceedings against V.B., who remains free while the investigation continues. Meanwhile, the €19,000 has been confiscated pending further legal action. The case has been forwarded to the Kukës Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.

Albanian border officials continue to emphasize their commitment to combating smuggling and financial crimes, reinforcing stricter controls to ensure compliance with national and international laws.
