The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, stated today that the year 2030 is a realistic target for Albania’s accession to the European Union. Speaking at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama during her official visit to Tirana, Kallas underlined the importance of sustained efforts from both sides.

“2030 is a realistic target, if both parties do their homework well. It's not enough to simply pass reforms – what matters most is their implementation,” Kallas said.

Responding to questions from journalists regarding judicial reforms, particularly those concerning the fight against high-level corruption, she highlighted the critical role of the rule of law not only in the EU integration process but also in the country’s economic development.

“The rule of law is one of the foundations of the European Union, but it is also the foundation of a country’s well-being. If investors trust your legal system, they will also trust in investing in your economy,” she stressed.
