Two German tourists, a mother and her son, were successfully rescued by Albanian police forces after losing their way during a nature exploration near the well-known site of “Shpella e Pëllumbasit” (Pëllumbas Cave), a popular tourist destination close to Tirana.
The rescue operation was launched promptly after authorities received an alert about the missing tourists. Police Station No. 1, in coordination with the Alpine Unit of the National Security Force in Tirana, immediately organized a search mission to locate and assist the visitors.
After several hours of intensive searching through the rugged terrain, the tourists were successfully located and brought to safety. According to official reports, both individuals were found in good health and did not require medical assistance.
This incident highlights both the potential risks of outdoor exploration and the readiness of Albanian emergency services to respond swiftly in support of tourists and locals alike. Authorities continue to advise all hikers and explorers to take necessary precautions, travel with guides when possible, and inform others of their routes before venturing into remote areas.
