For the fifth consecutive year, over 150 dogs of various breeds from almost all European countries and the region participated in the International Dog Beauty Contest held in Prizren, organized by the Kosovo Kennel Federation. According to Saud Kajtazi, the President of the Kosovo Kennel Federation, the contest has been taking place annually since 2014, and has expanded to other cities in Kosovo.
"Two international dog shows and one national show were held, with participants from nearly all European countries," Kajtazi said.
The primary aim of the competition is to promote messages of animal care and the proper maintenance of dogs.
"First and foremost, it's about ensuring the health of the dogs and showcasing the culture of how they should be properly cared for," Kajtazi explained.
The contest and the accompanying parade brought together dozens of trainers from around the world, each presenting dogs of different breeds. However, it was noted that there were no competing dogs from Albania this year.
"In previous years, we had participants from Albania, mainly with indigenous breeds," Kajtazi mentioned.
The beauty contest for dogs lasted two days, with winners receiving appropriate awards. Similar competitions are also held in major cities across Europe and in Albania.
