The First Public Albanian-English School Opens in NYC in September 2025!

PS 108, located in the heart of the Bronx, has now opened registration for Kindergarten students for the 2025–2026 school year. For the first time in the city's history, Albanian children will have the opportunity to learn every day in their native language alongside English, in a public school with certified teachers from the NYC educational system.

The First Public Albanian-English School Opens in NYC in September 2025!

This program is the result of tireless efforts from the community, dedicated parents, and supporters of education who believe that preserving the mother tongue is the key to maintaining cultural identity. By learning in two languages, students will not only develop advanced language skills but also improve their academic success and boost their self-confidence.

Mark Gjonaj, former member of the NYC City Council and a strong voice for the Albanian diaspora, stated:

"This school is not just a step toward better education, but a monument to our heritage. It's the most beautiful investment we can make in the future of our children."

Drita Gjongecaj, an activist and advocate for the program, emphasized the importance of this model:

"A school where Albanian is spoken every day is an opportunity to build bridges between generations and raise children proud of their origin."
